Does anyone else love to find white envelopes waiting for them in the mailbox as much as I do!? If it were a love language, writing and receiving letters would definitely be mine! Anyway, “Letters from Rose” is a new series I’ve been dreaming about and I’m finally putting it into action. So…what is it exactly? My reason for doing these posts is to be raw, intentional, and hopefully inspiring. I want to offer advice from personal experience, stories, and verses that are worthy of being wrote down. So stay tuned for a letter about purpose!
Purpose is something very evident in my life right now. I am currently a sophomore college student studying Interior Design, however in about four more weeks I will no longer be attending school. This decision definitely hasn’t been easy in any way, but I’m slowly starting to feel some weight lifted off my shoulders. I have been feeling as though God has been trying to push me in a different direction for a while now I just really didn’t want to listen. Walking away from school is scary. When I was highly considering stopping I had to dive deep into what area I truly felt God has given me strengths in. (Ben has been so helpful in pointing out things to me and I am beyond grateful for his encouragement and help.)
I love to serve. When I help people it satisfies me. At this point there is definitely no certain path for me (hence why it’s somewhat scary). I have nothing planned for after Christmas break when everyone starts their spring semester and I won’t be, but I do know something very powerful. God has a plan. God has a purpose for me. Right now I am knee deep in prayer and trust that God will provide opportunities where I can best serve him using my strengths and that’s what I’m tightly holding onto right now.
“I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2).
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21)
“I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” (Matthew 6:33)
“Make your ways known to me, Lord; teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation.” (Psalm 25:4-5)
“God, hear my cry; pay attention to my prayer. I call to You from the ends of the Earth when my heart is without strength. Lead me to a rock that is high above me, for You have been a refuge for me, a strong tower in the face of the enemy. I will dwell in Your tent forever and take refuge under your wings.” (Psalm 61:1-4)
There are seasons of life that will bring change. It’s not easy to be uncertain, but we can navigate through these seasons by holding onto our never-changing God. The truth is He is always with us, it may not be the way we want Him to be, but it will be the way we need Him to be. Feeling lost? Pointless? Clueless? Hopeless? Well don’t, because there is a God walking right beside you every single day, waiting for you to reach over and grab his hand for this journey. Be patient loves, in His timing your direction will be known.
Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength. [Ecclesiastes 9:10]
